[Confucius] Learning Classics at School?

Raymond Zhou says in Chinadaily that Classics often seem to be for their defenders "a weapon in an imaginary cultural war vis-a-vis Western influences". Like many of those articles, maybe intended for Western audience, it is well balanced between pros and cons and don't go very deep in scrutinizing the topic. The fact that this article appeared in the main page of the official China newspaper's online version in place of something about pandas or celebrities could be interpreted as a sign that this question is a matter of importance both in Chinese internal discussions and in what China wants to show to the outside world.
